Join the INSA Emerging Scholars Subcommittee for our next Virtual Café, in which we’ll be hosting our first journal club.
‘Emerging Scholars’ refers to all people who are in the early stages of joining the research community. Whether you are a higher degree by research student, an early career researcher, or a practitioner combining professional practice with research, we’re here to support you along the way.
In this session, we will review the article: Whitley, J., Pegg, S., & Ozturk, M. (2026) Predictors and patterns of absenteeism among students with disabilities: implications for inclusive education. Frontiers in Education,10. Article 1738861. https://doi.org/10.3389/feduc.2025.1738861
Our discussion will review how the authors examine the predictors and patterns of absenteeism among students with disabilities, and what their findings mean for advancing truly inclusive education. Together, we’ll critically explore the study’s methods, reflect on how these attendance patterns show up in our own contexts, and discuss practical implications for policy, school practice, and future research.
